Purple Haze

I finally played with my purple blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challeng.  It's not a color I 'reach' for when quilting, but I do have scraps, FQs, and yardage - you just never know when the mood strikes. Also, my SIL loves purple and I think that is why it has become part of my stash.

Deep purple, medium purple, light purple, raspberry purple - hey, I even found some purple batiks.

I can't wait to see these 'Garlick Knot' blocks in a quilt.  I found all these purples in my 2.5" barrel waiting to be played with.

And a nice variety of skinnies for a string block.

Even my doll quilt this month was purple.  A mix of linen, silk and cottons.  Why not?  The theme was 'Diamonds are Forever' and my diamond block was accented with my grandmother's linen and silk - linen was probably a curtain or table clothe and the silk is from a blouse.  She wore a lot of soft purples and I remember the lilac water perfume.

And my partner, Lee, sent me this lovely .  Mochas and sweet pinks in a trip around the world setting (I immediately thought of my grand's tile kitchen floor) but it also looks like a box of chocolates.  Who doesn't love a box of chocolates!

I love the lilac fabric; purple and green look nice together. Beautiful little doll quilt, and her dress is perfect.

Beautiful purple blocks! The doll quilt is stunning!

I love using purple in quilts, it's such a rich color.

I am impressed, not only with your blocks, but with your purple stash. I need to make a "big-boy" quilt for my #2 grandson and the colors he wants are purple and lime green. Even if I used my entire stash of those colors, it would make a very tiny quilt ... maybe smaller than the kid quilt it is supposed to replace on his bunk.

Very pretty purple blocks. I love the garlic knots. I just might have to make some of these blocks. Your first block reminds me of spring and lilacs. My lilacs have started to get buds.

Love your purple projects.
I stole your scrapping idea and created my own 2.5" squares stash from scraps. I'm forever adding and pulling from that collection. Thank you.
SWEET purple doll quilt and dollie and fabric box of chocolate : )

Looks like you managed to have quite a lot of fun playing in purples even though it's not your go-to color! Those garlic knots are intriguing - I'm looking forward to seeing them in a quilt too :*) I love to see quilts with mixed fabrics - it adds spice and texture!

The purples are all beautiful, you did a wonderful job for someone who isn't a purple fan :)

I don't usually reach for purple first either, but I always love it in quilts. You've made some ver nice use of your purple scraps!

For not having much purple you sure finished off a lot of neat blocks. I still have some 2.5 inch scraps left over and I might just have to make some of those garlic knots. Thanks for the idea.

Sharon your first block reminds me of wisteria - mine is blooming right now but it sure isn't as pretty as your fabric. I think it's the worst it's ever been! Purple is never my favorite color until I see someone else's blocks/quilts and then I love it. :) blessings, marlene
